Pastoral Area Resource Team

Posted on 07. Aug, 2010 in Parish Groups and Organisations

The development of pastoral area resource teams is a new initiative in our diocese. The pastoral area resource team is a group of people from each of the parishes within a pastoral area that are in service of the mission of the pastoral area.

Here, we offer some understanding of the function of the pastoral area resource team, the kind of things it might be doing and the responsibilities of the members of the pastoral area resource teams. In many ways this is an imaginative description due to the fact that pastoral area resource teams are new and we do not have a crystal ball to know exactly what they may achieve over time. However we believe that, with the help of the Holy Spirit, the new resource teams will be creatively involved in carrying on the mission of Christ in various diverse ways in many different settings.

Function of the pastoral area resource team

The function of the pastoral area resource team has been described as follows:

Under the leadership of the Vicar forane the pastoral area resource team will help to strengthen each of the parishes in the pastoral areas by:

  1. ensuring the effective sharing of the many gifts and talents of the parishes in the pastoral area
  2. identifying pastoral matters that can be done better together as a pastoral area than separately as individual parishes.

The Pastoral Area Resource Teams were officially commissioned on Tuesday 8th June 2010, at a ceremony in Armagh Cathedral.
