About Fr. Gerry Tremer

I was born in Newry and educated in the local Christian Brothers’ school. On leaving school I worked for a few months in a warehouse and then joined the Civil Service in Belfast. For five years I was attached to the Department of Agriculture in its headquarters in Dundonald House.

I then applied to the Archdiocese to be accepted as a student for priesthood. I studied in Maynooth and was ordained in 1985 by the late Cardinal Tomas O’Fiaich.

My first appointment was to St Patrick’s Parish in Dundalk where I spent the next 19 years. For the last nine of these years I was Administrator of the parish.

I was then appointed as Parish Priest in Clonoe and lived there for 3 years.

In 2007 I came to Cookstown as Parish Priest.
