“Come and See” Sunday

Posted on 27. Nov, 2012 in Diocesan and National News, Parish News

To welcome the Year of Faith, the Armagh Archdiocese, under the auspice of the Diocesan Pastoral Council, is holding a diocese-wide campaign, asking regular churchgoers to invite a friend or relative to come to the celebration of Mass, on the first Sunday of Advent (2nd December).

People who drop out of churchgoing may have simply got out of the habit.  They may have moved or had a change in life circumstances and drifted away.  Quite often life has become too busy.

“Come and See” Sunday is a special day set aside when people who do not regularly attend Mass are invited and welcomed to a church near them by a friend or relative.

Year of Faith

Posted on 22. Nov, 2012 in Parish News

Pope Benedict XVI has called for this special year as an invitation to a “an authentic and renewed conversion to the Lord, the one Saviour of the world” (Apostolic Letter, Porta Fidei, 6). He hopes it will inspire in all believers, “the aspiration to profess the faith in fullness and with renewed conviction, with confidence and hope. It will also be a good opportunity to intensify the celebration of the faith in the liturgy, especially in the Eucharist, which is ‘the summit towards which the activity of the Church is directed… and also the source from which all of its power flows’ (Sacrosanctum Concilium, 10).

Thursday November 22nd we will conclude the first part of the DVD series Catholicism produced by Fr Robert Barron.

The CATHOLICISM Project: Journey Around the World and Deep into the Faith
“Simply the most vivid catechism ever created; the best-ever film about the Catholic faith.”-Brad Miner, The Catholic Thing blog
With creator and host Father Robert Barron, you will learn what Catholics believe and why, while being immersed in the art, architecture, literature, beliefs, and practices of the Catholic tradition. Word on Fire Catholic Ministries offers a vision of the Catholic Faith, which has never before been seen. This vision seeks to explore, through a global journey, the living culture of the Catholic Church. From the lands of the Bible, to the great shrines of Europe, to the shores and heartland of America, to the mysteries of Asia, to the rich landscapes of Latin America, to the beating heart of Africa – and beyond, witness the passion and glory of the faith that claims over a billion of the earth’s people as its own. This series is hosted by Father Robert Barron, but is far more than a travelogue. In the series, Fr. Barron challenges the viewers to understand and explore their own faith.

Sunday November 25th

As a parish we recognise the goodness and mercy of Christ and so we have the opportunity to come together to celebrate Christ the King with exposition of the Blessed Sacrament from 1pm-6:30pm in Holy Trinity Church. Beginning 6:30pm we will have solemn vespers in honour of Christ the King followed by a time for personal prayer and reflection. We will then recite together an act of consecration of ourselves and our families to Christ the King. The devotions will culminate with Benediction with the most Blessed Sacrament.

Stained Glass Windows in Holy Trinity Church

Posted on 21. Nov, 2012 in Parish News

Annunciation of Our LadyHoly Trinity Church is endowed with a rich selection of stained glass windows. Each window has a story to tell, inviting us to look beyond this world into the very mysteries of our faith.

The Angel proclaims the Good News to the Virgin Mary. It is by the power of the Holy Spirit that she, the humble handmaid of the Lord, will become the Mother of God.
